CHIEF Victor Umeh of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) was on Thursday swore in by the Senate as a member representing the Anambra Central Senatorial District.

Senate president, Bukola Saraki, administered the oath taking.

Umeh exchanged greetings with Saraki and other members on his way out of the chamber after the brief ceremony.

Addressing journalists after the ceremony, Umeh said his journey into the upper chamber of the National Assembly was tough, narrating the legal battles he fought to win the seat.

-I am very pleased to be here. It has been a long walk to get into the hallowed chamber of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to represent my people. My excitement stems from the fact that as tedious as the journey was, finally I was able to come here through a process that is in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

-The case of the Anambra Central Senatorial District appears to be the longest drawn battle to this 8th National Assembly”
